Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a blistering attack on the Congress party, accusing it of only paying lip service to the welfare of Muslims while failing to offer meaningful political representation to the community. Speaking in Hisar, the Prime Minister said that had the Congress truly cared for Muslim welfare, it would have appointed a Muslim as party president or allotted 50 percent of its election tickets to Muslim candidates. “Their intentions have never aligned with genuine concern for the community,” he said, claiming the party’s actions reveal its “true nature.”

Modi also took aim at the misuse of Waqf properties, alleging that land meant to support poor and marginalised Muslims – particularly women, children, and Pasmanda families – was being exploited by land mafias. He claimed that these powerful actors were encroaching on lands belonging to Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities, sidelining the very people the Waqf was supposed to benefit.

To address this, he touted amendments to the Waqf Act, which include a key provision preventing Waqf boards from laying claim to tribal lands. The changes, Modi said, would protect tribal interests while preserving the sanctity of Waqf for disadvantaged Muslim families. “This is real social justice and a reflection of the Constitution’s spirit,” he added.

Prime Minister Modi also laid the foundation stone for a new terminal at Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar, a project worth over ₹410 crore. The Prime Minister said the upgraded airport would enhance connectivity and accessibility for Haryana residents, and noted that direct flights between Hisar and Ayodhya Dham would soon begin.

“The flight path from the land of Lord Krishna to the city of Lord Ram will now become a reality,” he said, calling the terminal a step toward fulfilling Haryana’s aspirations.

The Prime Minister used the occasion to reflect on his government’s record of honouring B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of India’s Constitution. He accused Congress of failing to appropriately recognise Ambedkar’s legacy, saying it took a BJP-supported government to award him the Bharat Ratna. Modi said key sites linked to Ambedkar’s life, such as his birthplace in Mhow and his place of study in London, had been neglected until the BJP restored and developed them under the “Panchteerth” initiative.

He also criticised the Congress for overlooking other figures like Chaudhary Charan Singh, another posthumous recipient of the Bharat Ratna under BJP rule.

Turning to governance in Haryana, Modi praised Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for what he described as a “clean break” from past corruption in state job recruitment. “People used to need political connections or had to sell land to get a government job,” he said. Now, Modi claimed, jobs are being offered without bribes or recommendations.

He lauded the Saini government for issuing appointment letters to thousands of deserving youth and vowed that many more employment opportunities would be created in the years ahead.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the long-pending One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, stating that his government had finally delivered on a promise ignored for decades. He claimed ₹13,500 crore had been disbursed to ex-servicemen in Haryana alone, contrasting it with a meagre ₹500 crore commitment made by the previous government.

Modi said that for decades, Dalits, backward classes, and soldiers were used for votes but never genuinely supported by successive governments. “We changed that,” he said.
